Common Required ADAS Calibrations

Updated July 2026

Many vehicle manufacturers now require certain safety systems to be checked and recalibrated, even if the repair work seems unrelated to ADAS features, and regardless of any pre-existing warning lights or DTCs. Click each vehicle make to learn more about their requirements on ADAS calibrations.

Audi

Even if the repair is limited to an alignment or rear suspension adjustment, multiple ADAS calibrations are still required due to changes in vehicle geometry affecting these systems:

  • Front radar
  • Rear/360 camera
  • Windshield camera

Subaru

Even if the collision appears minor or cosmetic, EyeSight camera calibration is still required because even small impacts can alter camera alignment. These include:

  • Small front-end impacts
  • Windshield replacement
  • Minor structural or suspension changes

Ford

Even if the repair seems unrelated to ADAS, calibrations are still required because system resets are tied to a wide range of mechanical and structural changes, namely:

  • Alignments
  • Minor front-end work

Toyota

Even if the collision appears minor or cosmetic, ADAS calibrations are still required because Toyota Safety Sense cameras and millimeter-wave radar can be affected by small bumper, grille, alignment, or windshield changes.

Even if no warning lights are present, calibration is still required after:

  • Windshield replacement
  • Alignments
  • Front-end repairs

Honda

Even if damage is limited to bumper covers or mounting brackets, certain calibrations are still required due to sensor positioning sensitivity, and newer models also need an OEM-mandated wheel alignment. Most commonly, these include:

  • Front radar
  • Windshield camera

Nissan

Even if damage seems limited or low-speed or primarily mechanical (suspension or alignment work), specific radar alignments can be impacted by bumper, grille, or structural movement or overall vehicle geometry. Most commonly, these include:

  • Front radar
  • Windshield camera

Volkswagen

Even if the repair is limited to an alignment or rear suspension adjustment, multiple ADAS calibrations are still required due to changes in vehicle geometry affecting these systems:

  • Front radar
  • Rear/360 camera
  • Windshield camera

GM

Even if the repair seems unrelated to ADAS, calibrations are still required because system resets are tied to a wide range of mechanical and structural changes, namely:

  • Alignments
  • Minor front-end work
